Neil Selwyn has a new article published in the latest issue of ‘History of Education’ – examining the political origins of schools computing as a field of education policy in the UK during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Through a series of in-depth retrospective interviews with key politicians, civil servants, computer industry and education actors, the paper traces the negotiations and conflicts between and within the government departments involved in the introduction of a ‘computer for every school’ into the UK school system.
