Empowering learners with personalised learning approaches? Agency, equity and transparency in the context of learning analytics

New research published in Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education from Dr Yi-Shan Tsai (University of Edinburgh), in collaboration with DER members Carlo Perrotta and Dragan Gasevic. In the article, the authors challenge the concept of learner empowerment in the use of learning analytics, drawing on a study that explored staff and student experience of agency, equity and transparency in existing data practices and expectations towards learning analytics in a UK university.
