What’s used and what’s useful? Exploring digital technology use(s) among taught postgraduate students

LNM has a new paper in Active Learning in Higher Education, titled: "What’s used and what’s useful? Exploring digital technology use(s) among taught postgraduate students". The paper derives from LNM's recent OLT funded project on digital technology use in universities. The paper reports on survey data from students on postgraduate taught courses, exploring how these students engage with during their studies, what these technologies are used for and how useful they are perceived to be.

A new article from an LNM project funded by the Spencer Foundation has just been published in the Cambridge Journal of Education, titled "The possibilities and limitations of applying ‘open data’ principles in schools". The article details the development of open data applications within secondary school settings using critical participatory design methods. The results of this work offer valuable pointers to limitations of school use of digital data - not least in terms of data quality, data literacy and general organizational 'fit'.
