Special issue on ‘Social Media and Education’

Neil Selwyn is guest editor of a new special issue of Learning, Media and Technology on the theme of 'Social media and education'. The issue contains nine articles from scholars from the UK, US, Australia, South Africa, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden. Topics include Facebook groups, teenage Twitter use, connected learning, self-regulated learning and much more.

Dr Michael Phillips, Associate Leader of the Learning with New Media Research Group, has two papers which have been accepted for the the 2016 Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) conference in Savannah Georgia.

Digital sociology and the future of education research

The Sociological Review blog has put together a collection of interesting papers tackling the area of digital sociology. As part of this, they have included a 30 minute audio recording of Neil Selwyn's presentation at Cardiff University in October 2015 on 'Toward a Digital Sociology of Education'.

Neil Selwyn will be giving a invited presentation to an international congress held in Kolomna, Russia on the theme ‘Digital society as a cultural context of human development’.

LNM blog post leads to national media attention

A Learning with New Media blog post has helped set the stage for a national debate about the ways in which we consider digital literacy in school aged children. Dr Michael Phillips has recently been invited to contribute to national print and radio media as a result of his recent LNM blog post.

Funding Success – R&D of Assessment Feedback

LNM Members A/Prof Michael Henderson and Dr Michael Phillips have been awarded $133,000 to research and develop effective and sustainable assessment feedback practices. A large proportion of this work will explore the potential for technology mediated feedback.

Augmented reality project funded with Dragons’ money
